Exhibition

In the first days of the New Year 2019, you can see the works of the artist Michelle Maštalířová during your visit to the PETROF Gallery. The exhibition “Cathedrals” beautifully decorates the walls of the Music Café and highlights the beauty of PETROF acoustic instruments in the PETROF Showroom. Let the art inspire you, it is easy to do so in the cultural and commercial center PETROF Gallery. We would love to see you there!

Michelle Maštalířová:

My name is Michelle Maštalířová. Since my early childhood I knew what I wanted to do in life, I wanted to be an artist. And that stuck with me to this day. I remember that my first dream profession was a dressmaker, then it turned into a painter. Perhaps I was subconsciously inspired by my great-great-grandfather, who painted and his paintings were up on the walls of my grandmother’s home. I attended an Art Primary School and then my journey continued at the Secondary Professional School of Applied Art in Prague. I studied many different art techniques during this time and computer graphics particularly caught my interest. Therefore I decided to continue my studies at the Václav Hollar Higher Technical School and specialize in Interactive Graphics. However, over time, I discovered that this is not the right subject for me. I missed the contact with what I am creating, so I ended my studies and transferred to the Higher Professional School of Applied Arts and chose the degree of Painting and Associated Techniques. I am graduating this year and I am very happy about my decisions that led me here. I feel at home in front of a canvas and a painting stand. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the opportunity to experience the, for me very technical, world of computer graphics. I believe that it has been hugely beneficial for me as an artist, even though I don’t intend to work in this area in the future.

I like to paint, draw, in the past few years I have done a lot of sewing and painting on textiles. I like to inspire myself by the world around me, especially nature, as I am a passionate tourist and a hiker. My current theme, which I am interested in, is a “view through the kaleidoscope”. The kaleidoscope is a fascinating device to me, I could look through it for hours and I still wouldn’t get bored by the magic of the three pieces of glass and the images they create. I have also started to take pictures of these shapes and I enjoy it very much. The views that appeal to me the most I then paint on a canvas. I prefer smaller formats of canvas, but I am not afraid to use even a meter canvas and my favorite technique is acrylic. I paint my paintings through feeling, every shape reminds me of something else and I am always trying to convey the atmosphere of what the image reminds me of in the painting. But all these images have one thing in common, looking through the kaleidoscope for me is like looking into an unknown world. A world full of majestic buildings and pleasant energy. It will mean a lot to me if you like my work and if my paintings set your imagination free.
