PETROF Concert

We hope to see you at the non-traditional grand piano recital in the PETROF Gallery. One of the most impressive artists of his generation, Ivo Kahánek, will perform with his quests from the Elementary Art Schools from Hradec Králové in the PETROF Gallery cultural centre. Visitors can look forward to the continuance of a successful project “Czech Piano Expedition” which focuses on young piano art school students all over the Czech Republic able to perform side by side with the famous Ivo Kahánek.

The piano virtuoso Ivo Kahánek, Schejbal siblings from the Střezina Art School, and Antonín Staša from the Habrmanova Art School will perform on the PETROF grand piano.

“The fact that the music from the Czech Republic is famous worldwide is undeniable. It is surprising how, a nation smaller than, for example, Bavaria, geographically located in the middle of a strong influence of other significant national schools in Germany or Russia, kept its original creativity for hundreds of years. For sure, it cannot be a coincidence for the Czech musicality to be such a phenomenon in all forms, not only the artistic ones. The proof is in the work of our greatest composers. Next to their greatest compositions, they, with no exception, focused their work also on “everyday music” composed for daily use and music practice and education. This concerns piano chamber music. It was the amount of these small Czech music jewels which led me to the idea of showing a cross-section of these jewels for the audience under the project name: Czech Piano Expedition.
In the Czech Republic, we have a unique complex of elementary music education called Elementary Art School. Therefore, I decided that during every single concert of the Czech Piano Expedition, I will introduce their best students. During the year 2020, the Bärenreiter will publish a Czech piano literature album Czech Piano Expedition aimed for advanced pianists with the repertoire mentioned above. Thanks to international distribution, the Czech instructive literature is promoted abroad. I am glad that Petrof became the ultimate partner of the project. Petrof is another “root” of the Czech musicality and spreads its reputation around the world for more than 155 years.”
