Concert PETROF
Come and enjoy the performance of the exceptional jazz trumpeter Laco Deczi and his band Celula New York at the PETROF Gallery. You can look forward to a unique experience in the form of a jazz evening, which brings together the explosive hard-bop trumpet of the American genius Clifford Brown and the electric jazz-rock of Miles Davis. Laco Deczi had managed to combine the two styles into an impressive symbiosis and add his unique handwriting.

Laco Deczi
Laco Deczi is an outstanding jazz trumpet player, composer, and painter of Slovak origin. Ever since he entered the professional music scene, he has been the “enfant terrible” and holds the nickname of exceptionality to this day. In the years 1963–1966, he was a member of the legendary SHQ group of Karel Velebný (guru of Czech modern jazz). In 1967, he founded the Jazz Celula formation, and after he emigrated to the United States in 1986, its American equivalent of the Jazz Celula New York. He has performed in the States with several great jazz musicians, such as Elvin Jones, Bill Watrous, Junior Cook, and others. During his career, he also won several awards, for example, in 1966 he won the Czechoslovak Jazz Federation Award for an outstanding solo work.
Jazz Celula New York
The Jazz Celula New York consists of four instruments (trumpet, keyboard, bass, and drums). The frontman of the band, Laco Deczi, plays the trumpet, and the drummer is his eldest son Vaico Deczi. They regularly perform in the state of New York and Connecticut. Since 1990, Laco regularly tours the Czech Republic and Slovakia twice a year. Concerts in Poland, Austria, and especially Germany are also frequent.
